Padi kolams  are those which  we draw in our doorsteps on all special occassions and on auspicious days like Tuesdays n Fridays especially in the month of Aadi (mid of July to mid of August) and Thai (mid of January to mid of February).  It is drawn with wet rice batter and red colour liquid called semman.  It is also drawn with dry rice powder or kolamavu with double lines.
